How is Hunger Free Forever different from other diets?
Well, unfortunately most diets are hard to stick with and so they fail. HFF is a program that a person can live with, day in and day out.
- Hunger Free Forever comes from the results of new research proving you can dramatically reduce food cravings so you can decrease food intake without hunger
- Most diets cause you to lose water and muscle mass; this approach leads to efficient fat burning, increased metabolism and improved muscle mass
- Restricting any one food group - like no carbs - creates an imbalance that isn’t healthy for the long-term. Many carbs are found in fruits and vegetables and we need more of those not less.
- Although portion sizes get smaller, you don’t feel starved because of the miracle of PGX
- Hunger Free Forever is scientifically based and clinically proven; the results are consistent, healthy weight loss without hunger.
- The book and program include delicious, easy to prepare recipes and food plans, perfect for busy people, and specifically designed to control appetite with healthy food.
If you feel satisfied, eating fewer calories is not deprivation. In fact, followers of our program gain an even greater appreciation and love for food. By retraining appetite and metabolism, you can change your relationship with food from unhealthy and excessive to healthy and moderate. It is a liberating experience.

How was the HFF program developed?
It has evolved from major scientific discoveries in the field of appetite regulation. Our discoveries have been effectively applied in community weight loss programs conducted over the past few years on hundreds of people. This simple approach allows you to reach and easily maintain your body weight goals utilizing exciting new scientific breakthroughs to normalize your appetite and consistently enjoy a high degree of satiety from the food you eat.
Many doctors, health scientists and researchers have worked to understand the complex nature of diet, metabolism and appetite control. Dr. Vladimir Vuksan and his colleagues at the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital have spent many years of exhaustive research to discover and develop the most effective polysaccharide complex for appetite control - PGX.
The Canadian Center for Functional Medicine has done the clinical trials to prove the efficacy of this approach.
The development of PGX is the result of intense scientific research at the University of Toronto led by Dr. David Jenkins, Dr. Tom Wolever, Dr. Alexandra Jenkins, and Dr. Vladimir Vuksan, discoverers of the now popular glycemic index. This world recognized research team tested hundreds of different fibre combinations in laboratory, animal and human studies before the basic composition of this super-fibre was discovered. Coauthor Dr. Michael Lyon, director of the Canadian Center for Functional Medicine and the team of nutritional scientists at Natural Factors, then conducted two years of exhaustive research to create the processes and formulas which led to the patent pending ingredient, PGX. Dr. Lyon continues to collaborate with the University of Toronto on PGX research. In fact, recent studies have shown that when added to virtually any food, PGX can reduce the glycemic index of the food by an amazing 50 to 70 percent.

What is satiety?
Satiety is defined as the state of being full or gratified to the point of satisfaction. Research has shown that humans eat to achieve satiety and those who are overweight have an increased frequency of food cravings and a resistance to satiety after eating adequate amounts of food. The HFF program uncovers the reasons for this resistance to satiety and increased food craving and provides the vital keys to restoring normal appetite control - whether you want to lose 5 pounds or 200 pounds.

I’m obese and need to lose a lot of weight, what is the BEST thing about the Hunger Free Forever program?
The beauty of the Hunger Free Forever program is that it is simple, easy to follow, and highly effective. It promotes weight loss because it is based upon:
decreasing appetite and amount of calories consumed.
normalizing and stabilizing blood glucose levels.
increasing metabolism and the burning of fat, while preserving muscle mass
resetting the mechanisms that control individual fat cell size and body weight.
adjusting food and lifestyle choices to promote ideal body weight and create a healthier relationship with food.

What is PGX?
PGX is a newly discovered blend of highly viscous soluble fibre known as PolyGlycopleX. Used with or before each meal it promotes satiety, improves blood sugar control and supports healthy action of insulin.
The key aid to lose weight safely, effectively, and permanently is to greatly increase the consumption of dietary fibre. Unfortunately, to achieve appetite stabilizing effects very large quantities of fibre must be consumed – more than most people would ever eat. However a small, five gram serving of PGX produces a volume and viscosity that would equal as much as 4 bowls of oat bran!
The effectiveness of fibre on reducing appetite, blood sugar, and cholesterol is directly proportionate to the amount of water the fibre can absorb - its water holding capacity - and the degree of thickness or viscosity it provides in the stomach and intestine. Although there are many varieties of soluble fibre, PGX is the most viscous and soluble fibre ever discovered.
-
What are the key benefits of PGX?
- Reduces appetite and promotes effective weight loss, even in the morbidly obese.
- Increases the level of compounds that block the appetite and promote satiety.
- Decreases the level of compounds that stimulate overeating.
- Reduces postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose levels when added to or taken with foods.
- Reduces the glycemic index of any food or beverage.
- Increases insulin sensitivity and decreases blood insulin levels better than any drug.
- Improves diabetes control and dramatically reduces the need for medications or insulin in the diabetic.
- Stabilizes blood sugar control in the overweight and obese.
- Lowers blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

What are the biggest health dangers related to being overweight?
Obesity now outranks malnutrition as the biggest health risk to populations, even in most developing countries. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), out of the world’s six billion people, one billion are overweight, compared to 800 million who are undernourished.
In the developed world, obesity is a true epidemic. North America has the highest percentage of people who are obese - approximately 65 million adult Americans are now obese – more than the total populations of Britain, France, or Italy. This trend is still rising rapidly and the percentage of children who are obese is truly alarming.
Obesity is now regarded as the major cause of death in the United States.

How can you determine if someone has blood sugar problems?
By using new techniques in 24-hour blood sugar monitoring, our research has for the first time, documented that excessive appetite and food cravings in overweight subjects are directly related to rapid fluctuations in blood glucose throughout the day and night. The HFF program dramatically restores the body’s ability to control blood sugar levels and produce remarkable improvements in insulin sensitivity and reductions in appetite.

What can a person expect if they follow the Hunger Free Forever program?
First, they can expect to achieve satiety and victory over their appetite. Statistics tell us that 98 percent of people who lose weight by dieting end up gaining it back within five years. And, 90 percent of those people gain back more weight than they lost. Eating less and exercising more is impossible if your appetite is out of control. In fact the more overweight you are, the more your appetite will be magnified, with increased food cravings and more difficulty feeling satisfied from food.

How does Hunger Free Forever address diabetes and pre-diabetic conditions?
Our program is especially beneficial if you have Type II diabetes which is directly related to obesity especially belly fat. With the Hunger Free Forever program we help to restore insulin sensitivity, thereby potentially reversing the signs and symptoms of Type II diabetes.
Pre-diabetes, also called “impaired glucose tolerance,” is a condition that occurs when a person's blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough for a diagnosis of Type II diabetes. There are almost as many people in the United States with pre-diabetes (about 16 million) as there are diabetics.
When insulin resistance develops, insulin continues to stimulate the growth of fat, but has it has little effect on muscle. Those who develop insulin resistance and its accompanying elevated insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia), have a hormonal tendency to deposit fat and lose muscle mass. In essence, when you are insulin resistant, your muscles are starved and your fat cells are overfed. Because of this, it is very difficult for fat to be burned efficiently when you are in an insulin resistant state. Unless insulin sensitivity is restored, weight loss through dieting is an uphill battle at best and is impossible for most people.

What is meant by the “blood sugar roller coaster”?
If you are riding the blood sugar roller coaster, it will be nearly impossible to lose weight. Frequent fluctuations in blood sugar, particularly when blood sugar rapidly drops in a short period of time, can result in serious food cravings, even when your body has no real need for additional calories. If these events occur dozens of times per day, you are likely to give in and snack or drink sugary drinks, and those snacks and beverages will likely be loaded with calories. In the face of these food cravings, if you use sheer will power and hold off until your next meal, your appetite will be in overdrive and it is likely that you will eat too much of the wrong thing. Eating when your brain is sending out powerful signals to eat is not a good way to control your food choices, portion sizes, or speed of eating.
We have worked with hundreds of people who have tried and failed to lose weight through dieting. We have seen the remarkable transformation that occurs in these people when their blood sugar becomes stabilized and they no longer have to struggle with frequent food cravings and an appetite in overdrive.
-
How is stress related to weight gain?
The Stress Response vs. the Relaxation Response - Blood is shunted away from the skin and internal organs, except the heart and lungs, while the amount of blood supplying required oxygen and glucose to the muscles and brain is increased. Production of digestive secretions is severely reduced because digestive activity is not critical to counteracting stress. Blood sugar levels are raised dramatically as the liver dumps stored glucose into the blood stream.
-
What about sleep and weight management?
Sleep deprivation increases hunger and slows down metabolism, making it more difficult to maintain or lose weight. It increases the level of cortisol and promotes increased appetite, cravings for sugar, and weight gain.
